DEI is incredibly important for Essity as we believe that our strengths as a team lie within our differences as individuals. The UK DEI advisory team was set up in 2022. Since then, they have helped to implement multiple employment policies, such as a public holiday policy that enables employees to choose to work on UK public holidays and instead take a day of leave at a more appropriate or suitable time for them. In addition, the DEI team implemented a Carers' Policy that enables any Essity employee who has care responsibilities outside of work to take up to an additional six paid days of leave each year.
The team has also been instrumental in delivering a series of employee training programmes designed to foster a culture of support and understanding in the workplace, and in educating employees about different cultural events with the aim of celebrating diversity throughout the year.
Wendy Jackson, Project Manager for UK & ROI Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Group:
"Leading the DEI team is a huge privilege, as DEI is at the heart of building a more empowered and more productive business together."
"Our DEI policies go beyond the minimum expectations to ensure that all our employees feel supported, regardless of gender, sexual preference, age, disability and religious beliefs."
"In 2024, we have taken the initiative to roll out neurodiversity training to our line managers, along with organising campaigns for Mental Health Awareness month and Men's Health Month. We strive to increase awareness and education through inviting interesting and informative speakers. In 2025 we will continue on this journey, with the DEI team driving new initiatives and employee engagement activations."
"DEI affects every employee, and it's only by working together that we can ensure Essity is a productive, proactive and rewarding place to work."
