In 2017, Essity committed to donate a minimum of 1.2 million period products every year to help combat period poverty. This commitment continues today.
In 2022, Essity also made a formal pledge to donate 1 million toilet rolls every year to the network of thousands of charities that receive donations through In Kind Direct. By the end of 2023, we had donated over 1m toilet rolls throughout the year which helped 62,500 families across the UK.
Along with donating Tork professional hygiene products every quarter, Essity arranges for bathrooms in public institutions to be fitted out with Tork products, such as dispenser systems. Essity and In Kind Direct have worked together to provide 11 total fit outs to date.
We also support our charity partner through employee volunteering, funding for research, commercial partnerships, and awareness campaigns.
Volunteering
All Essity employees at our Didsbury, Dunstable and Willerby offices receive two volunteering days a year, which many choose to spend repackaging palettes of thousands of Essity products, which are then dispensed and delivered to charities by In Kind Direct.
Research and Campaigns
Essity has partnered with In Kind Direct on valuable research into period equity and hygiene poverty in the UK. This is motivated by Essity’s pledges to help break taboos and raise awareness for societal issues.
